Where In the World is Censis: Jill Sweeney Visits Hawaii

Hello Dearest Gentle Readers! Welcome back to another issue of "Where in the World Censis?" 

This update comes to you directly from the Aloha State itself – HAWAII! We have two fantastic facilities on the island of Oahu that I found myself, Lady Whistledown – oops, I mean Censis Clinical Educator Jill Sweeney, conducting ServicePlus assessments and providing training, and doing some other fun stuff at back in July.

The first  assessment and training was conducted at the larger facility, The Queen’s Medical Center – Punchbowl.

This facility has a lot on its plate!!

They have their Main OR plus a Same Day Surgery, both with separate sterile processing areas. They also have a separate area in the OR Core with additional CensiTrac users who pick cases and also sterilize items as needed. They do a great job of managing these three different areas and are very thorough in their documentation. During our training, they learned many different ways that they could capture their manual paperwork in CensiTrac helping to lessen staff workload and create easier reporting for leadership.

The second assessment and training was conducted at The Queen’s Medical Center – West Oahu. 

This facility is smaller than the main hospital but MIGHTY!

They have fewer staff (many shifts when I was onsite there was only one staff member working in SPD) but they do a very thorough job of utilizing CensiTrac and completely resulting all loads they create. One thing we did while onsite was enable advanced features in their Loaner Module. This provided additional information on their loaner labels as well as great trackability on all loaners sets. Staff expressed appreciation for this workflow.

Exploring Hawaii

This was my first trip to Hawaii. While I enjoyed my time working on site and meeting the fantastic staff at both facilities, I also had a great time seeing some of the sites on Oahu. Some beaches were visited – a couple favorites were Ala Moana and Ko’Olina. This is a picture at Ala Moana beach with Diamond Head peeking out in the distance. 

Amazing marine life was seen at Ko’olina Lagoon, Turtle Beach and Hanauma Bay. Interesting coral, sea turtles and tropical fish galore! Attached is a picture of one type of interesting fish seen while snorkeling at Hanauma Bay: a Sailfin Tang.

Like every day in Hawaii, we will end this article with a beautiful sunset overlooking Waikiki Beach at the golden hour!
