Just because conferences and in-person learning opportunities are canceled due to COVID-19 doesn’t mean you can’t earn continuing education credits this summer and fall. Through our brand new Continuing Education Series—True Grit, True You—you can continue your SPD training from the safety and comfort of your home.
What is True Grit, True You?
In partnership with Beyond Clean, we created True Grit, True You to provide healthcare workers an accessible way to earn free continuing education credits and take advantage of professional advancement programs in the midst of COVID-19 limitations. The series kicked off in July and continues through December, featuring webinars from other healthcare professionals, surgical tracking experts, and industry experts on a variety of topics pertinent to SPD teams and leaders.
Each webinar that you sign up for and attend will earn you 1-1.5 continuing education credits to help with your annual recertification. Each presentation is accredited for IAHCSMM, CBSPD, CNOR, CSSM, and CNS-CP.
Why True Grit, True You?
Here at Censis, we embrace the team experience, knowing that we can only provide for the community by first nurturing the individual.
The True Grit, True You program is fashioned around six core values that build on each other to create strong teams: passion, courage, perseverance, leadership, resilience, and WE. True grit starts with each SPD individual but it culminates in the whole team—the “we.” Or, as we like to say: through you, come we.
What will I learn?
Each month, the True Grit, True You series will focus on a different core value, starting with passion in July and building to WE (the team) in December. The monthly webinars are designed to keep you current on what’s trending in the healthcare and hospital industry with an emphasis on the values that enable healthy teams to respond productively to those trends or changes.
For example, in July, with a value focus on passion, webinars included:
- How to Remain AAMI Compliant & JCO Ready with an Electronic Tracking System: Familiarize yourself with how tray tracking and analytics provide sterilization record documentation, auditing capabilities, and real-time reporting to ensure proper sterilization record keeping and ensure AAMI ST79 & ST90 compliance.
- The webinar was held on July 16 and earned participants 1.5 CE credits.
- Loaner Management: Getting the Most out of Loaner Management: Learn how to assess and evaluate loaner management systems in order to maintain a healthy loaner environment. You’ll walk away with the tools to successfully understand what a loaner management system is, its importance in a healthcare setting, and how to identify a system that best fits your needs.

How do I get started?
We update our schedule every month on the True Grit, True You page with new offerings that are tied to the featured core value of the month. You can bookmark the page and return to it monthly to explore the new webinars, or you sign up for our newsletter to be one of the first to know when a new schedule is released.
Once the new schedule is released, you simply click to reserve your spot, fill out the form, mark it on your calendar, and then prepare to learn!
